If you love angsty love triangles, STOP what you are doing and look no freaking further this is the book for you. I swear I want to scream it from the mountain tops!!! Please READ THIS BOOK! I am BEYOND thrilled with it.
It makes me want to dance :D
"Then what do you want from me Gavin?" she asked, her voice an aggravated whisper.
He caught her by the chin and made her look at him, his eyes-that light, wild blue- blazing into hers. "Damn it, Emily. I want us! You belong with me, not him." he half snarled the declaration. "Every part of you was made for me. Your lips were made to kiss mine, your eyes were made to wake up to me looking at you in my bed every morning, and your fucking tongue was made to roll my name off it. I am more certain of us than I'm certain that I require oxygen to breathe."
Emily Cooper has just graduated from college and moved to New York City to start a life with her boyfriend Dillon after the devastating death of her mother. Losing her mother has hit her hard and Emily made the decision to move to the city to be closer to Dillon thinking that this was the next step in their blossoming relationship. Not quite ready to move in with Dillon she decides to move in with her best friend Olivia and starts working at a little Italian restaurant down the road. While working her first day, she's asked by her boss to make a food delivery on the way home.
(OH LADIES.... here it comes....my heart pitter patters)
Gavin Blake is waiting down stairs at his office building for his food but his typical delivery guy doesn't show up, nope, in walks Emily and takes Gavin's breath away. He's never believed in love at first sight but one look at Emily makes him question everything he's ever thought. He falls head over heels for her with just one glance.
Emily is drawn to Gavin and Gavin to her like a moth to a flame. Their instant connection is tangible. Two souls that are meant to be but Emily is with Dillon of course and can't make a move for Gavin. Gavin not taking hints very well tries to pursue Emily anyway. Trying to putting Gavin in his place Emily decides she needs to keep her distance by giving him a fake name (Molly) and telling him that she's seeing someone.
Attracting, compelling, colliding, their chemistry - to say the least - was explosive. He felt it the first time he laid eyes on her, the drawing of energy that radiated from her eyes as she stared into his.
Thinking she's not going to have to deal with Mr. Tall, Dark and F*ckable handsome (as she calls him) anymore Emily is slightly relieved. BUT as fate would have it Gavin and Emily's path are set to Collide again. Setting up one of the best damn love triangles I have EVER read.
He had a desire for every inch of her - the smell of her sweet breathe on his hungry lips, the taste of her tongue against his, the soft feel of her skin beneath his hands, and the sound of her husky voice whispering in his ears. She was an assault on his senses a constant thirst needing to be quenched. Although he had a taste, he feared the only thing he would have left was his instinct of wanting her more and needing to feel her again and again."
As Gavin and Emily try to stay away from each other the pull between them get's stronger and stronger. Their chemistry and connection is sizzling and electric and the back and forth that ensues in mind blowing. The sexual tension oozed from the pages making my heart race, my palms get sweaty and my panties sizzle. It was absolutely divine. I can't give you anymore plot than what I've given you. This book needs to be experienced page by page, word for word.
"Your mind and your body are never going to forget the things I'm going to do to you tonight. Every...Single...inch of your body is going to feel me."~~ Gavin
I really have to say this author's writing is so articulate and graceful. Every single one of her words had so much feeling and depth to them. The story flowed exquisitely and flawlessly leaving me completely captivated and entranced. I felt myself never wanting it to end. I am so thrilled to have found this book that I connected with and fell in love with deeply. I wish there was some way this review could show you exactly how much I loved it.

It made it into my top five books of all time. Gavin Blake falls into the same category as Kellan Kyle, Gabriel Emerson and Christian Grey. He was sexy, strong and confident, completely swoon worthy and delicious. You're going to fall so deeply in love with him.
This book is a book you do NOT want to pass up. It's a MUST READ and an absolute FAVORITE of mine.

Where to start with this mess? I cannot begin to explain how ridiculously annoying it is when a character laughs with almost everything they say, as if every word out of their mouth is funny enough to warrant a laugh. Not to mention the fact that, in this case, it was used as a dialogue tag. That's amateur writing at its finest. "Laughed" isn't a dialogue tag. It's an action tag. This means that it should be punctuated differently. You can't speak an action. A period is needed as a separator between the action and the dialogue, not a comma.
While I had many issues with this book, the biggest annoyance for me was Emily herself. The girl was a martyr to the extreme. I don't care how much Dillon, her boyfriend, did for her in the past. That doesn't give him free rein to treat her like crap. She allowed him to treat her this way, even making excuses for herself by claiming that she didn't have anyone from her past with whom to compare his behavior. I understand she took care of her mom while she was sick, but she's a 24-year-old woman. I find it hard to believe that she never dated, not once before her mom got sick since, you know, everyone in the book couldn't shut up about how beautiful she was. All that aside, I thought she was a weak, spineless woman who couldn't seem to function without a man to take care of her. Dillon manipulated her at every turn because she allowed it. She wasn't blind to his many faults because she was naïve. She was blind because she refused to accept what was right in front of her face. Everyone could see Dillon for who he truly was, everyone but her. She accepted every excuse he threw at her. If only the same applied for Gavin. She wouldn't even give him the courtesy of allowing him to explain himself to her.
Dillon was possessive, controlling, and manipulative. I didn't understand what Emily saw in him. I didn't find him all that appealing, not even before he started showing his true colors. He had d-bag written all over him.
"So you went swimming I see," Dillon remarked, peeling the shirt from his body as he and Emily entered their room. Closing the door behind him, he shed the rest of his clothing and tossed them into a pile."Very good observation," she laughed.
Dillon walked into the bathroom, turned on the shower, and got in. "I hope you kept the body that belongs to me covered up around my friend," he called out.
[...]
"You're not answering me, Emily. Did you cover yourself up?"
Walking into the bathroom, she let out a frustrated sigh. "Dillon, what do you see right now?" she asked, motioning her hand over her body, her voice a touch irritated by his question. It was clear to her that she wasn't baring too much skin.
"What do I see right now? I see my hot girlfriend's ass hanging out from beneath her college T-shirt. So why don't you get in the shower and give your man what he needs?"
That's a great boyfriend she's got there. Good Lord, did he expect her to go swimming fully clothed? I'm surprised he didn't lock her away in his room the whole time to prevent anyone from looking at his property. That's exactly how he treats her—like an object he owns.
Later on, Emily's reaction to that particular scene made me rage.
After downing a shot of tequila, a slight pang of guilt for not giving Dillon the little he had asked from her hit the pit of her stomach. He'd emotionally taken care of her through the most difficult time in her life, constantly complimented her on a daily basis—whether it be about her physical or educational attributes—and made her want for nothing financially. Sex in someone's home—be it crowded or not—shouldn't have been an issue in her mind.
She actually felt guilty for turning him down for sex. This girl isn't emotionally mature enough to be in a relationship at all, let alone with someone who so easily manipulates her.
Olivia, Emily's friend, said it best:
"First, you need to stop feeling like you're completely indebted to Dumbass, Emily. He did what any good boyfriend would've done. Nothing special."
Between Dillon and Gavin, the obvious choice is Gavin, but he's certainly nothing special to write home about. Sadly, he just didn't do it for me. I mean, sure, he was sweet and all, but after a while, I just felt sorry for him. He was kind of pathetic, if I'm being honest, letting Emily walk all over him and play her little games. He went on and on about the connection he had with Emily, how she was meant to be his, yet had no problem lying to her face on Dillon's behalf. To his credit, he did eventually come clean, but, by that point, I was over his cowardice. He talked a big game, but that was about it—all talk, no action. I didn't understand why he and Dillon were even friends. I wouldn't even call what they had a real friendship. He more or less tolerated Dillon for reasons unknown. I don't know why Gavin put up with Dillon. I don't know why he did a lot of the things he did.
Overall, I felt that the characters weren't fully developed. I couldn't really connect with them. Then again, maybe it's because I have very little patience for stupidity, and these characters were beyond stupid—every last one of them.
I found the book as a whole to be somewhat boring, and by somewhat I mean completely. It was melodramatic, predictable, and overly long and wordy. The plot relied too heavily on contrived miscommunication and misunderstandings. Basically, it was angst for the sake of angst. It had potential, but fell short on delivery.
One last thing: At first glance, I thought the couple on the book cover was two women. The guy's arm doesn't look very manly.

But there's a very specific reason as to why I downgraded this book from having a four-star review.
THE HEROINE
Emily Cooper.
AKA the heroine who couldn't make a decision to save her life.
Let me break this down for you:
Emily's boyfriend, Dillon, is a narcissistic, money-greedy asshole. He also pushes Emily around both metaphorically and literally. He's possessive (and not in the fun way… more like the take-that-fucking-dress-off-everyone's-going-to-think-you're-a-fucking-whore way), controlling, vindictive, and manipulative. Just Google "narcissism", okay? And there you will everything that is Dillon.
And see, here's where the whole decision thing comes into place.
Because Emily meets another guy, Gavin Blake. And he's thumbs-up AMAZING. And sexy. And gorgeous. And a multi-millionaire business mogul. And he can dance. And he's an alpha male. And he's great with his niece and nephew.
Oh, and he also says things like:
"I want it all, Emily. I want to spend my nights holding hands with you," he breathed the words into her ear. "I want the all-day texting. I want the laughing and the forehead kisses. I want the date nights, the movie watching, and the breakfast making. I want the late-night drives, the sunset watching, the screaming, the yelling, and the crying." Still kissing her, he smiled against her mouth. "I know I'll definitely want the make-up sex that comes after all of the screaming and crying. I want the good, the bad, and the in-between."
***And seriously. Throughout 80% of the book… Emily can't make a decision between these two guys.***
And I'm like:
And by the way…
Hey, Gavin?
(view spoiler)[I understand your not being able to call a cab for your alcohol-induced comatose ex-girlfriend when she passes out in your apartment. But next time? Try U-Haul. :) (hide spoiler)]
So. Despite all that…
I absolutely do recommend this book. It had me burning through its pages late last night because I just couldn't get enough of the angsty sexual chemistry between Emily and Gavin.
Because holy SHIT! It was hot, guys.
I loved the plot design, Gavin, the writing… everything.
Except for the heroine. :)
That's all.

Attracting, compelling, colliding, their chemistry- to say the least- was explosive.
The summer after her senior year of college, Emily moves from her home in Colorado to New York City to be closer to her boyfriend Dillon. Since her mother died of breast cancer, she has nothing to keep her there. She moves in with her best friend and college room mate, Olivia and gets a job waitressing for the summer while she applies for teaching jobs. On her first day at the restaurant, Emily makes a delivery on her way home... To Gavin Blake's office. Gavin and Emily both feel an instant attraction, a spark right away.
Now... I could easily spend this whole review swooning and going on about how much I LOVE Gavin Blake... but these quotes and pictures will describe him better than I could...
"Yes, he was that good looking. Take-your-breath-away good looking. Want-to-strip-your-body-naked-and-let-him-devour-you-alive good looking. Certified-eye-candy good looking."
GAVIN BLAKE
"Mr. Tall, Dark, and Fuckable Handsome."
"Shmexy Bedroom-eyes Man."
You get the picture...
No matter how hard Gavin tries, he can't get Emily out of his mind. He doesn't know her name, but he knows where she works...
Emily Cooper
Gavin goes to Emily's work to ask her out. She tells him her name is Molly and even though she is intrigued, she denies because she has a boyfriend. That doesn't keep Emily from thinking about Gavin and gushing to Olivia about him.
A few nights later, Emily meets her boyfriend Dillon at a bar. She is meeting some of his friends there... bet you can't guess who one of those friends would be... Mr. Tall, Dark and Fuckable himself! That makes things a little more complicated.
Dillion is everything Emily wanted in a boyfriend, but he's not Gavin. Since Emily moved to NYC, Dillon has changed. He is more possessive of Emily(and not in the hot alpha good way) and is 'working late' a lot... yeah. No matter how much Gavin and Emily try to fight their feeling for each other, they can't stay away. They are drawn to each other. And Gavin realizes, he will do whatever it takes to have Emily.
This book had me on an emotional roller coaster! I loved it , I hated it, it made me laugh, cry, I screamed and shouted, the twists and turns had me frustrated- I was all over the place, but I loved every second of it!
Normally, I am not the biggest fan of love triangles. I always feel bad for someone... except when a member of the triangle is a complete asshole. That helps. Certain things about this story reminded me of Thoughtless, the angsty love triangle and all. As much as I love Kellan Kyle from Thoughtless, he has been replaced by my new book boyfriend, Gavin Blake!
I may be slightly obsessed with Gavin Blake right now... His is sexy, swoony, strong, confident, funny, and yummy! He has got a sweet side( I loved the bottle caps!) My heart broke for him at times. Ah he was the best!
"Damn it, Emily. I want us! You belong with me, not him. Every part of you was made for me. Your lips were made to kiss mine, your eyes were made to wake up to me looking at you in my bed every morning, and your fucking tongue was made to roll my name off of it. I am more certain of us than I'm certain that I require oxygen to breathe."
"He's never loved you the way you need to be loved. Let me love every part of you. Your mind... your body... your heart... your scars... your quirks... your habits... your thoughts... all of you. Give me all of it."
Swoon, Gavin. Swoon!!!
Emily was relatable and lovable, most of the time anyway. Other times she was really frustrating. Most of the supporting characters were great. I especially loved Olivia. She was the greatest best friend to Emily. She was sassy and funny! Obviously I didn't care for Dillon, but I loved all the little names Olivia called him... to his face. Dillon the Douche bag, Dillon the Dick head and Donkey-Dick Kong. She had me cracking up!
But a warning about the ending...
Tick... Tock... Tick... Tock...
The last 10% or so I was kind of freaking out! the ending left me like... You couldn't have given us just a few more pages?!?! We really have to wait until summer for Pulse to come out?
The writing was smooth and the story just flowed. I can't believe this is a debut novel! I could go on and on about how much I loved this book... and Gavin Blake, but you really should just read it for yourself! I have a feeling this book is going to be the next big thing! A must read! I highly recommend it :D

Spoiler alert! Though the book blurbs in the Collide series do not make a secret of who the intended hero and heroine are for this love triangle, I'd say if you rather remain surprised stop reading right now, don't peek at the blurbs and just enjoy the unfolding! The Collide series should be read as a set and in order:
BOOK 1 Collide
BOOK 2 Pulse
In Collide (book 1) we meet Emily Cooper, who upon her graduation from College moves to New York to be closer to her stockbroker boyfriend Dillon Parker. While searching for a more permanent position as a school teacher, she takes a summer job as a waitress. On her first day at work she encounters handsome mogul and playboy Gavin Blake and sparks fly. In the coming days Emily resists Gavin's attempts at flirtation only to, shortly thereafter, again be introduced to Gavin who is her boyfriend's close friend and VIP client.
And so the love triangle begins… Follow the three of them through ups and downs; seduction, misunderstanding, betrayal, love, lust and jealousy. Strap on your seatbelts it's a bumpy ride ahead!
Gavin Blake is the perfect hero. At first he comes across as the jaded, bored, ultra rich playboy. But as the story progresses, we learn there are many more layers to him. Six words to describe Gavin: Memorable, noble, intense, charming, captivating and… shmexy.
"His impressive presence was that of polished power, economical grace, and unyielding demand. He simply was a force she couldn't help but notice."
Emily Cooper is what the story needed to keep the triangle going and though she annoyed me at times I kept reminding myself, she is what Gavin wants. Five words to describe Kate: Naïve, annoying, meek, endearing and kind.
"Nope, there's shmexy, and there's sexy. And you, my friend, are shmexy." ~ Emily
Collide (book 1) ends with cliff-hanger, but no worries; just pick up book 2, Pulse, for the conclusion of Gavin's and Emily's story!
This is a debut by Ms. McHugh. I feel she did an excellent job on character development of both the heroes and villains. I really enjoyed their story, very much thanks to Gavin. Though the writing was a bit long-winded and predictable at times it really did not bother me!
Captivating plot! Hot, shmexy and memorable hero! Excellent read! Thanks Ms. McHugh!
"He might have stolen her breath the first time they kissed, but there and then— stealthy like a cat burglar— he was trying to steal her heart."

He dipped his head and started feathering his lips against her temple, down her cheek, and along the curve of her jaw. Emily couldn't help it, but a light moan left her lips. You know it's a good book when it takes you into this roller coaster ride of emotions. I swear this book brought on many feels! Normally I don't appreciate books that have something to do with complicated love triangles, but this one seemed to be an exception.
Collide, the first book of Collide series, started when Emily Coooper moved to New York to attain a career and to move on from what happened to her mom. She's a country girl but with the help of her boyfriend Dillon, she was able to adjust to the city life. While working part-time at an Italian restaurant, she met the rich and dangerously hot guy Gavin Blake. There was a sudden spark between them, a connection that they weren't able to resist. But she's in a relationship with Dillon, so it shouldn't be possible for her to get attracted to Gavin.
What struck me while reading this book was the huge amount angst in it. Talk about an anxiety-inducing love story. I don't usually condone this kind of story because it isn't fair for a girl to be extremely attracted to another man while she's in a relationship with someone, but heck, her boyfriend Dillon is a total jerk! A pretensions, big liar. All throughout the book, I was really rooting for Emily and Gavin to be together and hoped that she will immediately break up with Dillon.
"Sometimes bad choices bring us to the right people."
I admit I was so frustrated with Emily most of the time because of her stupid, very stupid decisions! I swear she did it countless times and it was getting on my nerves! I guess she's the only reason why I can't bring myself to rate it 5 stars.
Biggest pet peeves: ANNOYING HEROINES.
But Gavin Blake... He's the perfect thing that happened in this book. I loved his character so much it hurts. I wish all heroes are like him. Tell you what, he already owned all the best attributes in a book boyfriend.
The romance in this book was so damn good, I couldn't ask for more. So much sexual tension and frustration all around. As a whole, I enjoyed it. It hooked me from the very first chapter up to the last. It's my first Gail McHugh read and I loved her writing style and the way she rendered such a story with so much conflicts. Definitely going to read the second book!
"I want the good, the bad, and the in-between. All of it is what's going to make us amazing together."

Where to begin?

EmilyShe has just lost her mother to cancer and is moving away from her small town to join her boyfriend, Dillon Parker, in New York. Dillon has been there for her in every way imaginable when it came to her mother's illness. Flying back and forth with her without complaint, comforting her during her loss, and even helping with the funeral arrangements and costs...
DillonShe's now graduated college and is looking for a job in her field, enjoying the culture and life of the big city... That is, until, she runs into Gavin Blake...
Gavin(At this moment I would just like to say that Mr. Gavin Blake is definitely one of my top book boys! DEFINITELY...) And here is why...
"Jesus!" she let out louder than anticipated.
"No, it's Gavin. Gavin Blake," he deadpanned, reaching for a beer from a six-pack on the floor. "Although, in certain private one-on-one situations, I've been referred to as God," he laughed."
Gavin is a charmer. He's rich, handsome, and confident. They usually are right? However, there was something different about Gavin. Anytime he was in the story, I found that I was smiling like a chesire cat. He's just an all around loveable guy...
Emily now has a boyfriend whom she loves and this handsome stranger who will stop at nothing to get to know her. She knows where she stands though, she is not one to be dishonest to the very man who was there for her in her most trying time...
As luck would have it, Emily does in fact get to know Gavin and be in his life. Not because she chose to, but because mutual friends make themselves known...Their chemistry and banter was definitely laugh out loud worthy and some of the moments they shared as friends just left you swooning even more over Gavin... Especially when they play their little game out on the porch one night and it turns into a "thing" for them..Every time I see a beer bottle cap now, it holds a very special place in my heart...
What happens though, when the choices you make turn out to be so completely life altering, you're not sure if your original plan was the path you were supposed to follow?
That kiss had been devastating, painful, euphoric, and everything else she had imagined it would be-all wrapped into one.
Emily, Dillon and Gavin's story was an interesting one. With twists and turns throughout up until the end. I'm not going to lie, sometimes I wanted to slap Emily for her choices (or lack thereof) and sometimes I wanted to tell her to just go for it. Other times, I wanted to punch Dillon in the face. Literally. Punch. Him. In. The. Face...
HOWEVER, I embraced all of the characters and their flaws, even the ones I could definitely do without...
Sometimes being in a relationship because it seems like the "right thing" to do, doesn't always make it the healthiest choice. Emily had some decisions to make concerning her happiness and what she thought her happiness entailed...
Life and love isn't always simple. Often it's beyond complicated. Emily's story was about finding a balance, believing in herself, and knowing when to say enough is enough. She had the help of great friends and a very loving sister...
This book had a little bit of everything to keep you wanting more and be forewarned, you will not see a resolution to the story by the end..with that said, it's so worth the read! 4.5 stars from me for a job well done!
Emily's life went from simple to chaotic in no time flat. She doubts herself and feels, at times, like her world is crumbling apart because of the decisions she's made. I loved the advice her best friend gave her, letting her know that even though things aren't always black and white, it doesn't mean that it needs to get the best of you and make you doubt your self worth...

Am I insane? I think I just might be. I cannot give you much more than that, because this book is nothing but one big spoiler... so saying anything about the story is saying too much. You have to read
Its about a girl who meets the right guy at the wrong time. The characters are well developed and fabulous, the good and the bad... the story is riveting, and gut retching, and without a dull moment. Its chocked full of LOVE and HATE, heart melting truths and mind blowing lies. I loved
I HIGHLY recommend it!!! But be prepared... you're not going to want to get off either!!!

Gavin is sheer perfection. Emily sort of annoyed me a bit when she automatically jumped to a conclusion when a certain person answered the door but hey, we got to build for the next book!
GAVIN …
"She's out there son, and when you find her, you'll know it the very second you see her. She'll pull at your every instinct. Without any regard to the natural order of things, she'll just … appear."

"Thank you for the permanent scar." He whispered, his voice broken and defeated. Without another word, he shoved his hands in his pockets and walked over to his car.

Well then I met the one and only Gavin Blake I've been at the edge of the chair, bed, standing up with kindle in hand, talking to the kids sorting activities out, cooking etc because this story kept me up and I could.not.put.it.down, I've had tears of joy, tears of sadness and I wanted to throw my kindle at the damn wall because of Nasty Dillion Damn him!! So you get I love this right...
Right onto the review!!!
The story
When Emily's Mum dies of cancer and she's just finished college she decides to move to 'Big' New York to be closer to her boyfriend(Dillon) and embark on a new journey and a fresh start.
"Death seemed to bring out a completely different way of looking at life once someone was gone."
Emily starts a temporary job at a restaurant over the summer while she waits till a permanent position comes up as a school teacher, she has to take an order to Mr Blake after her shift, they meet and well Mr Blake of Blake Industry's makes Emily want to do the naughtiest of things with him(in her mind) and there attraction to each is instant, their chemistry to say the least is explosive. But being that Emily is in love with Dillon she push's those thoughts away. Later when Dillon and Emily are out Emily's introduced to Gavin as Dillon's friend... Oh hell that's all she needs right?? And so this story starts...
Mr Gavin Blake
Gavin is maybe what people would say is a bachelor, he's Sexy, fuckable, dominant, but I really don't see him as a bachelor at all yes he's single, yes he has money, yes he has sports cars, yes he see's women for one reason only but when he see's Emily his heart craves hers, he's not selfish, he's loving, caring, he just wants to love her. We would say Gavin is like a onion there's many layers that needs to be peeled back. His friendship with Emily is although instant and there attraction is Intense, Gavin just wants Emily to be happy and wants to be Emily's friend so they embark on a friendship...
Molly erm I mean Miss Emily Cooper
With Emily starting a new life with Dillon and loosing her Mum she's a little vulnerable so when Dillon says go she goes, she was infuriating at times I wanting her to stand up for herself but if I was in her position would I act in that way? yes probably, so I can't blame her for her actions, she wants security, but we're rooting for her to make the right choice yes?
"You're in my dreams, in my thoughts, in my skin."
Lust.Desire.Want.Need
Dillion
Ok I really didn't like him, what I hated was ugghhh IT's ALL ABOUT HIM!!! Money, what he wants, his life is money and how far it's going to take him/them and maybe he does love Emily but he just goes about it wrong way. His true colours start to come out slowly. But even though I'm not a Dillon fan The Author has done an AMAZING job at portraying Dillons character so we love to hate him yes?!!
But"Sometimes bad choices bring us to the right people."
And with that comes Confusion, hurt and pain.
"Your mind and your body will never forget the things I'm going to do to you tonight. Every....single inch of your body is going to feel me."
"Your body was made for mine." He slid his tongue down her jaw, his hands cradling the back of her head. "Every fucking inch of you was made for me, Emily."
Family and friendship
Olivia-Emily's best friend OMG I LOVED HER. She is a strong woman and the bestest friend she made me smile and laugh at all of her Dillion names freaking hilarious....
Gavins family were great they obviously have money but this is not the core to there life and each other I loved them all.
"She'll be out there, son, and when you find her, you'll know it the very second you see her. She'll pull at your every instinct. Without any regard to the natural order of things, she'll just....appear."
I'm just going to say I loved it, and I equally love Gail for giving us this story and Gavin...
And a little warning but not really for us that have waited... CLIFFHANGER ALERT......... mmmm Tick Tock Tick Tock
P.s Thank gawd Pulse is out I'm diving straight in!!!!

I picked this book up because one of our blog followers emailed me and told me how good it is (Thanks Cavell!) and I am so glad that I did. I do so love an emotional, angsty story that holds my attention, affects me soul deep and pretty much rips out my heart and this book did all of that to me. I felt fully connected to the characters, understood all their terrible predicaments and despaired that the course of true love never did run smooth. I guess there must be a latent sadist somewhere deep inside of me because I am never more engrossed in a story than when the characters are forced to suffer deeply and suffer deeply they surely do.
Emily has just moved to New York after the death of her mother from cancer. Her boyfriend, Dillon, has been there for her every step of the way and she just couldn't fault him. He's been her rock when she most needed one and now she's moving to New York from Colorado to be with him. She met him at college when Olivia, her best friend, invited her brother and a friend down to stay. Dillon almost didn't come down that weekend – it was meant to be Gavin but he had something else on. Oh, what a fatalistic decision that was! It really was a missed first encounter, colliding with a second chance.
Emily and Gavin bump into each other in New York before they realise they have mutual acquaintances and for Gavin it's like being struck by a thunderbolt. He feels her even before he turns around and lays eyes on her for the first time. Even though he's never believed in it before, it's love at first sight – he feels a magnetic connection between them that almost takes his breath away. Emily is similarly affected and shocked when Gavin pursues her but she manages to push him away, her loyalty lying with Dillon. He tries to get closer to her but he finally realises with horror that she is THE Emily that Dillon has been talking about for several months.
He decides to back off but the overwhelming love he feels for Emily is all-consuming and he knows that they are meant to be together, that they were made for one other and, as time goes by, he finds it harder and harder to hold back especially as he knows that Dillon is not the good guy he's made himself out to be to Emily. How hard it must have been for him to lay his eyes on the woman he feels destined to love until his dying day only to find she's on the verge of getting engaged to one of his friends.
Emily is torn – she loves Dillon, believes herself in love with him but can't hold back the feelings that are developing within her for Gavin. She feels that she owes Dillon a debt of gratitude for all that he's done for her over the last few months and can't bear the thought of hurting him. especially after the promises they made her dying mother together.
I so loved this, was completely unable to put it down. It's just one of those books that consume you, that grab hold of your heart, squeeze hard and don't let go right until the last few devastating words The story is told in the third person and, as the reader, we have a birds-eye view of everything that is happening while the central characters only know half the truth – it's almost like watching a car wreck in ultra slow motion. You can see it happening, you're waiting for the moment of impact and there is absolutely not one goddamned thing you can do to stop it. All you can do is watch in horror completely unable to look away and this is how I felt reading this book.
I understood how Emily felt – she cares deeply for Dillon but is falling hard for Gavin and nothing she can do or any guilt she carries can stop this. Dillon is not really one of the good guys but there's no doubt that he loves Emily but he sees her as a 'trophy' and certainly doesn't care for her the way Gavin does. Gavin does Battle Royale with his emotions. He's been hurt before and tries hard to do the noble thing, to stay away but his feelings for Emily are so strong, he's so sure that they are meant to be together that his love for her overrides everything.
I loved Gavin – despite being described as a P.L.A.Y.E.R. in the blurb, I don't think that's a real true depiction of him. He's been single for a couple of years after his long-term girlfriend left him and, yes, he's played the field but, once he casts his eyes on Emily, there's no going back and he is completely smitten. He knows that Emily won't be happy with Dillon – he knows Dillon too well and is determined that she won't throw away their one chance of happiness together and it's a painful, deeply emotional path to the moment where he begs her to give them a chance.
"You're supposed to be with me, and you know it. You said it yourself that you feel me when I'm not near you."
Dipping his head, he looked straight into her eyes, his voice low. "
God, Emily, please…you have to give us a chance. Let me take care of you. Let me love you."
Of course, other things are at play and with that third person, birds-eye view you can see the disaster looming long before the characters do and we are left with a MOTHER of a cliffhanger. We're left dangling on the edge of the abyss not knowing which way we're about to fall – we just know that we need the sequel and we need it NOW!! This was quite simply all kinds of awesome – as I read it I was spellbound, enthralled and engrossed, I just could not put it down, its so compelling. HIGHLY recommended.

Okay, what the hell? This book actually made me want to swear. The writing itself wasn't too bad (I've encountered worse), but the characters/content? Oh sugar, big problem for me.I have to say, of the three major characters -- that is Gavin, Dillon, and Emily -- Gavin was the least objectionable. He was a tad too mushy and "in-touch" with his feelings for my taste; otherwise, not horrible.
Dillon, what a d-bag. I do not understand Emily's relationship with him. We, as readers, are supposed to buy that he was sweet and charming before New York and then flipped the switch? The transition was too abrupt for me, especially considering I did not get the chance to meet him before this "transformation."
Which brings me to my biggest issue: Emily. From the beginning, this girl has no backbone. This made it extremely difficult for me to relate to her. And it gets worse from there. Not only was she weak, but she was inconsistent. For example, her reaction to Gina. Earlier in the book, she actually sees Dillon and Monica kissing and takes him back. However, when she sees Gina open the door sans pants, she completely freaks, cuts all communication with Gavin (allowing him no explanation), and gets back together with Dillon (the manhandling s.o.b.). On one hand, I understand her reaction with Gavin was supposed to be more dramatic because she feels deeper for him. On the other, her not even talking to him or confronting him about it? Not cool. As such, I was unable to understand Gavin's love for her. She just didn't seem worthy. Also, I didn't like that it never once entered her head to just be alone. She's incapable of seeing her options. Why doesn't she see that she does not have to be with either Gavin or Dillon. They are not her only choices!
The ending is what really threw me over the edge. She lets Dillon rape her!!! What the f***?! The book ends with her leaving Dillon asleep to run back to Gavin. The kicker? Before leaving Dillon, she whispers a soft goodbye; no venom, no sarcasm, no nothing. Girl, he basically just raped you!
I really didn't like this book. Emily and I didn't start off on a good foot and, by the end, I was ready to kill her. I hated her. If I met this girl in real life, we wouldn't get along. The secondary characters, themselves, were nothing to write home about and didn't really serve a purpose despite the author's attempt to develop Olivia.
Ugh, I hate writing reviews like this, but I will definitely not be following this series. Honestly, I'm sorry I spent the money...

Well well well, I have a serious love/hate relationship with this damn book. Being a self-professed angst whore, I've officially found a book that has so much angst and senseless drama, it drove me batshit cray-cray! Then we get a morsel....a chance that they're finally going to get their HEA.... but no...more motherfucking drama. Seriously, shoot me NOW!
But the cliffy end, ya know, the one that made me (thank God) put off reading this series until Pulse came out...well, that ending is sure to make you feel....a little nervous? On edge?
All I've gotta say is the start of Pulse better give me some...
Followed by a bit of Gavin and Emily...
There, I feel so much better. You may actually get a REAL review after the final installment Pulse.

I'm having a hard time composing my thoughts because seriously, WTF did I just read?!And Jesus, its going to be a series?!
Okay, coming into these kinds of books, you have certain expectations. I expect a serious amount of fluff and aww-shucks-ain't-that-sweet moments, drama is also requisite (some jealousy-induced punching, some crying in the rain), parties where everyone dresses up, non-graphic sex with dirrrrty talk... you know the usual. This book had everything and our backyard in there. All the possible permutations of all the cliches we've read in contemporary romance smacks you in the face. All the reasons why it should've worked. And yet...
The root of all fail in this book is the dialogue. It's too... fictional.
"Words fail to describe the way you look this evening." (Gavin)
Emily smiled sheepishly. "Thank you," she breathed out, grasping onto her clutch. "You look great
too."
"Why thank you." He smiled. "Shall we?"
Who are these people and why do they talk like that?! Also,
"Ah, yes, brother-in-law, take all the credit." Melanie laughed, tossing blonde hair over her shoulder.
WTF? Who calls their brother-in-law 'brother-in-law' to their face? And it's everywhere! Characters calling their friend, brother, sister, pal etc. as 'friend, pal, brother, sister'. It drove me crazy!
"Care to dance with the woman who brought you into this world?"
That was Trevor and Gavin's mom asking Trevor to dance with him. Yikes.
Then there were the characters. The only character who I liked was Dillon. The supposed anti-hero was the only person in this story who reflected believable emotions and reactions for every situation he was in. And yes, he's still a douchebag but then that was the role he was meant to play.
Unlike Gavin, who I'm supposed to swoon over but dear Lord, that guy just cheesed me off. Actually my dislike of him was mostly still rooted to the way he talks:
"You're playing with fire man." (Trevor) "I can handle the burn. Just do what I asked. (Gavin)"
Ladies, that for you is your hero, Gavin Blake.
But far be it the only thing that will deter me from going Team Dillon all the way (actually I'm not team anything but humor me). No see, Gavin had a former flame by the name of Gina who makes an appearance somewhere in the middle of all this insanity. So they had a bitter past and you know how he handles a certain situation with her? (view spoiler)[ He was so angry. Fuming mad. He wanted to throw her out but can't since she was so drunk. Then he dreams about her giving him head. (hide spoiler)] And I'm supposed to root for this guy?! Gavin (and the author) obviously hadn't heard the adage that the opposite of love isn't hate but indifference because if he's seriously in love with Emily, that wouldn't have been the tone of that conversation. And what was up with that dream? Will that bite him in the ass ever? Because there was not one mention of it afterwards.
Emilie will probably get the brunt of the readers' hatred because she really was unbearably foolish and for me, evil. To actually (view spoiler)[ go back and marry Dillon because she thought Gavin was sleeping with Gina without plans of telling him even when he flat out asked (hide spoiler)] is such a dick thing to do.
Can a girl be a dick? Because having all this drama after your mom died not too long ago and nothing but so much as a glance referencing that supposedly painful moment. Yeah, Emilie's a dick.
The blurb has so much promise and the emotional depth that it could've gone to seemed obvious but the author didn't take it there. But everyone else seems to like this so what do I know anyway? Maybe not calling my mom "the woman who brought me into this world" in casual conversation is actually weird.

Holy hell of a good story here! If I could give it more than five stars I most definitely would!! Gail McHugh introduced me to my first book boyfriend of 2013 and his name is none other than Gavin Blake!!Oh my, how I adored him in every f***ing way! She had my undivided attention from the first page until the very last and let me just say that it takes a pretty, awesome author to do that to me because I can get easily distracted, but here? oh hell no there was none of that happening! I didn't want to go to bed, I didn't want to eat dinner, and I didn't even want to go to the bathroom!! okay okay so you want me to tell you WHY I loved this book so much well that is easy and I can even sum it up in TWO words yep that's right only TWO words....GAVIN BLAKE!!
This wonderful man captured my heart and my soul and even totally aside from this: Emily's description of him
"Yes, he was that good looking. Take-your-breath-away good looking. Want -to-strip-your-body-naked-and-let-him-devour-you-alive good looking. Certified-eye-candy good looking."
Okay I had my Gavin moment so now we move on to Dillon, Emily, Trevor, Olivia & Fallon. I will start with Emily, oh my dear Emily such a, how do you say, somewhat likable but difficult character and at the very same time I understood her.
She has lost her mother and throughout all of the devastation that took place with that, Dillon, her boyfriend, was there to see her through it all, to take care of her, take care of the funeral expenses and arrangements, you name it, he did it making Emily forever indebted to him, at least in her mind. I personally didn't like Dillon from the get go, I don't care what he did, and for very good reason!!
"I'm about to drop it like it's hot."
referring to snooty tooty Joan, Dillon's mother.
Once Emily moves to New York she finds a job at a restaurant where she meets Fallon and they also become friends. One evening there was a delivery to be made and no delivery man so Emily took on that role and that is when her world would completely change and she would collide with HIM!
"I want you more than I've ever wanted anything before in my f***ing life."
"I could've f***ed you over... and over...and over again, and I could've f***ed you very well, but I stopped because that's not the way I wanted you."
Holy hell does my man have a heart and got it all going on or what? I could go on and on about how much I loved this book! There is Drama with a capital D, there is angst, sex, love, frustration, torment, lies, and emotional, heart and gut wrenching pain but oh so completely and utterly worth every bit of it!! (I only wanted to throw my kindle once lol)
He was everything she wanted, and apparently, she was nothing he needed.
So what will Emily do? Will she stay with Dillon or will she let go and give herself to Gavin?
I was provided an ARC of this by the author, Gail McHugh, for an honest review and for this I truly, truly thank her because she is one talented lady and I can't wait for the day she makes the NYT'S bestseller's list and I can say I read her books before they made it here!!! Do yourselves a favor and BUY this book because I truly believe you will not be sorry and you WILL want more!!

"I want you to give in to what I see behind your eyes every time I'm near you. I want you to give in to the way you trembled in my arms when I touched you… the way your breathing becomes faster when I look at you. I loved the way your lips felt against mine, and I'm pretty sure you did, too. I also enjoy the way I can almost feel you becoming wet for me right now. Are you going to pretend that you don't feel anything for me, Emily?"
"When you want something this badly, you don't just give up. You fight and fight until you absolutely can't fight anymore."
"Am I making it hard for you?" he asked mockingly.
"Yes, Gavin you are," she quietly spat, her fingertips white-knuckled around her glass.
With his need for her trapped inside – blistering hot, sweltering, ready to explode – he leaned in closer, dropping his voice. "Good, because whenever you're near me, I fucking lose every bit of self-control I have left."
"Every part of you was made for me. Your lips were made to kiss mine, your eyes were made to wake up to me looking at you in my bed every morning, and your f***ing tongue was made to roll my name off of it. I am more certain of us than I'm certain that I require oxygen to breathe."
"I've never felt so heartbroken and so in love at the same time. If you would've told me the day we met that you were going to break my heart— and that days, months, or even years would pass, that I would still be hurting like this—it wouldn't have stopped me from falling in love with you."
"I want it all, Emily. I want to spend my nights holding hands with you," he breathed the words into her ear. "I want the all-day texting." He kissed her temple and caressed her cheek. "I want the laughing and the forehead kisses." He softly ran his lips over her forehead. "I want the date nights, the movie watching, and the breakfast making." He dragged his hands through her hair, his teeth tugging gently at her bottom lip. "I want the late-night drives, the sunset watching, the screaming, the yelling, and the crying." Still kissing her, he smiled against her mouth. "I know I'll definitely want the make up sex that comes after the screaming and the crying. In want the good, the bad and e in between. My Feelings Toward The Book
I honestly hated this book! yeah yeah 5 stars and all. I hated it because i was angry most of it. I mean Emily is stupid pushover !! if you are not happy with someone then DUMP HIM. Maybe she couldn't i'll give her that, you see Dillon is a dick with a capital D he's cruel and asshole, he treats her like a trophy, if he said jump she'll say how high????
Olivia > Emily's friend Hates him and he hates her, she always telling her how ass he's being to her(Emily) then emily jumps to defend him by saying "oh no he's not, he sweet ohhhh i love him "
Bitch give me a break!!!
He helped her financially as i said earlier when her mother's death and also when she moved to new york BUT he won't let her forget it!!
what the fuck dude?!
The only reason she's with him is because she feels obligated to stay, and she feels that she owes him something! No darling you do not!
The Ending : wHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT ??
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO? OMG ... did he just? ohhhhh yes he did !!!
YEAHHHH YOU GO GIRL
------
lets talk tiny little bit about the cover: who is the idiot who made this!!!?? ugly, stupid, irrelevant!!!
The CharactersGavin Blake: *blush* he's just ASDFGHJKL LOVED HIM , sweet, nice , sexy , smart and hot! am i missing something here Emily?
Emily: liked her but darling any man touches me the wrong way and i'll break his arm! not to mention (view spoiler)[forcing you to have sex with him ( one of the last scenes (hide spoiler)] oh HELL No! UGH i'm angry at her.
Dillon Parker: I didn't know at which point i KNEW he was a dick but thank god it was from the very beginning.
his mother: PLASTIC BITCH can someone slap her?
Olivia : LOVED HER, seems my kind of girl.
Fallen? is that her name? anyway loved her also
There are a number of the characters and i liked them all
Some Quotes i liked :
"Her heart beg an t o race like a frightened little mouse fleeing its predator.
Dillon pulled his chair away from the table.

Dillon slowly got down on one knee.
Thump…thump…
Dillon produced a small black velvet box .

""Sometimes bad choices bring us to the
right people ."
""Here's to bottle caps, the Yankees, and 'birds', and most of all"...he paused and lowered his voice to a whisper.." and, most of all to a beautiful girl named Molly who refuses to believe the man-the man who loves her more than she'll ever know"
"Every part of you was made for me. Your lips were made to kiss mine, your eyes were made to wake up to me looking at you in my bed every morning, and your fucking tongue was made to roll my name off of it. I am more certain of us than I'm certain that I require oxygen to breathe."
" I've never felt so heartbroken and so in love at the same time. If you would've told me the day we met that you were going to break my heart— and that days, months, or even years would pass, that I would still be hurting like this—it wouldn't have stopped me from falling in love with you."
"With the weight of his body, he pressed her back against the wall, and licked the soft spot below her earlobe. "Tell me how much you fucking want me," he breathed."
"Don't we all have to fill voids in our lives with something?"
"When you want something this badly, you don't just give up. You fight and fight until you absolutely can't fight anymore."
And A lot more but i can't quote half of the book here.

Gail McHugh's writing was sexy, entertaining and completely angsty.
I loved all the characters in this story. Well some more than others. Gavin Blake will have readers swooning. Emily tested my patience but she partied on Staten Island, so that's something. The story was a great read and had me excited to get back to see what was going to happen next even though the word CLIFFHANGER was mentioned by more than one friend.
Emily moves to New York to live with her college best friend and be close to her boyfriend Dillon. Emily is starting over after the loss of her mother and is excited for a new beginning.
Emily meets Gavin Blake businessman (total book boyfriend material) and sparks fly between the two. Emily finds that Gavin is in fact one of her boyfriend's friends and well that makes for a problem seeing him around because well he is…. "Mr. Tall, Dark, and Fuckable Handsome".
In true love triangle fashion, we are rocked by the seas of Emily's insecurities and feelings for both men. When it appears that one is chosen, a misunderstanding happens.
Emily, I had your back the entire book until the last 5% percent.
Your own on your chicka!
I personally feel Emily completely blew it and redeeming herself in this reader's eyes is going to take a miracle. Gail McHugh better have some good tricks up her sleeve.
Fans of Thoughtless who have survived Kiera's stellar way of handling a love triangle may have it in them to give Emily a try. (Perhaps these two are long lost siblings!)
P.S. Gavin your fantastic!! Give me a call…I'll be your Molly xo

This is one of the most wonderful books in 2015 and although it has a lot of controversy around it, I loved it.This is a story about betrayal and suffering, but also one about love and second chances.
The main plot surrounds Emily Cooper who begins a new life in NY together with her boyfriend, Dillon. In the first chapters we see a happy couple, that is trying to settle down and enjoy their relationship.
Dillon was there for Emily in her terrible moments of grief and due to all the background they have, this start means much to them in order to make their relation permanent. Emily's world will be shook once Gavin enters the scene. He is a charming business man, friend of Dillon's, who finds Emily fascinating. The fact that he is funny, handsome and has a lot of things in common with her helps them develop a sweet friendship. I will not spoil everything about how they met, you will have to read the book and believe in destiny:)
Things progress in a natural manner, Emily's path intersected with Gavin's many times and in all of them we can see how different he is from Dillon. The antithesis between them is obvious at a point and everyone can see it, including Emily. While Gavin is sweet, attentive and caring, Dillon is frustrating, mean, bored and sometimes even violent.
I like the awareness the writer sends here regarding domestic violence, an often element inserted in book with a certain purpose. Slowly a love triangle is formed but there were circumstances regarding the events that went on.
Emily's and Dillon relationship is based on domination from Dillon's side, no tenderness, respect and apparently no love. In opposition to that, Gavin loves Emily sincerely and will do anything to make her happy, he fights for her and he is determined to show her how great they can be together. A lot of mistakes are made by Emily because she wanted to do the right thing, but sometimes destiny has other plans for you.
This book had one of the most intense love scenes I have ever read, without being too much, too exaggerated. It had the right amount of love, sensuality and passion that needed to be included in the book, and made the scenes look fantastic and hot. That intensity was felt not only in the love scenes, but also in the relationship between Emily and Gavin, all their dialogues, their glimpses, their attraction were so beautifully described and made you connect with them.
Many will ask if cheating is involved and well, I am going to let you discover that by yourself because many have the tendency of judging before actually understanding the circumstances leading to a certain outcome. But please, be open minded and put yourself in Emily's place. The heroine was very well developed and you will certain connect with her in all emotional levels. Put yourself in her position and try to see what you would have done in her place. From my point of view, the answer isn't that hard.
Maybe she did a lot of mistakes, but being confused and scare never helps anybody make the right decision. In the end, it is never too late to realize that maybe you choose wrong and if a thing was made for you, you will have it eventually.
That is what Collide is all about- making the right decision based on what you need and dream about, and having the courage to seek it, even if you are not convinced that all odds are in your favor.
5 stars and definitely one of my favorites!!

After the devastating death in her family, Emily Cooper made the ultimate decision to start new and fresh, by leaving her small town and joining her boyfriend, Dillon Parker, in New York City. Even though this was a huge step in their relationship Emily wasn't quite ready to live with Dillon and therefore moved in with her best friend Olivia.
While trying to cope with the loss, Emily began living her life and even found a small job as a waitress at an Italian restaurant. On the first day of her new job, the delivery boy quit, so she was asked by her boss if she could make a quick delivery to a building nearby.
This is when we meet: GAVIN BLAKE.
Attracting, compelling, colliding, their chemistry - to say the least - was explosive. He felt it the first time he laid eyes on her, the drawing of energy that radiated from her eyes as she stared into his.
Let me tell you something about Gavin Blake. He is up there in my top five book boyfriends. Want to know why? Gavin was the perfect mix of Gideon Cross and Kellan Kyle. I know right! How could you NOT fall in love with a man that's a mixture of your two ULTIMATE book boyfriends! (Well my two ultimate book bf). He had the power and wealth as Gideon. Though, his personality is what won me over. Slightly similar to Kellan, but he was his own character within himself. He wasn't controlling, over possessive, and domineering. He was gorgeous, smart, humorous, charming, and the list could go on. His connection with Emily was STRONG and I knew the moment they laid eyes on each other he was in for the biggest fight of his life.
My heart tore into pieces watching Emily struggle with her feelings of what she thought might be for Gavin and the feelings for her current boyfriend, Dillon. I wanted to smack some sense into her because it was clear SO clear. There were other times I wanted to hug her and tell her "I know it's hard! I'm sorry you're going through this, but go with your heart!" But THEN I wanted to slap the living days out of her AGAIN.
Collide will take you on an emotional, devastating, yet delicious, love-triangle of a roller coaster. It will be a ride that you will not want to get off. Be prepared though, you'll want to rip your hair out, scream, love, hug your kindle, and shout some more.
The ending left me screaming at my tablet, "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!" But I'm ready for what Gail McHugh has to offer with these characters in "Pulse" the sequel to Collide.
Loved this book! It'll be released January 20, 2013. Grabs yours ASAP.

Jesus, what a rollercoaster! This book has totally messed up my day. I read last night until I physically could not keep my eyes open. I was so tired that I was falling asleep half way through a chapter and dreaming the rest of the story. In the end, I gave up. I picked it up when the other half left for work and said to myself 'Oh, I'll just read a bit before I get up.' Two hours later and I drag myself out of bed to feed my poor starving dogs.
Whilst eating my breakfast, I decide to just read a bit before getting in the shower and continuing with my day. That was two hours ago. And here I sit, unshowered, in my PJs, breakfast bowl on the table next to me, writing this review!!! I couldn't not! I had to get it out.
So, let's talk about Collide.
Wow. It's intense! Who did I love and who did I hate... I loved Gavin, my feelings yo-yo'd for Emily and hated Dillon!!! There are great surrounding characters in this book too. Emily's friend's Olivia and Fallon are fab. Gavin's friend Trevor is super cute.
In Collide Emily moves to New York to be nearer her boyfriend, Dillon, and best friend, Olivia, after the death of her mother. But upon moving into the post-college 'real world' and what is also Dillon's world, things aren't what Emily hopes they will be.
Dillon's high powered job keeps him out late at night, his interfering exes rear their ugly heads, his alcohol consumption seems to be spiralling out of control and he has a temper that Emily hadn't witnessed before.
And to top it all off, Emily meets Gavin. Gavin is insanely sexy. He's gorgeous, wealthy, charming and he's got his heart set on Emily.
Though his father had told him stories about it happening, until that fateful afternoon, Gavin Blake had believed that love at first site didn't exist.
And then they realise that Gavin is Dillon's close friend and Emily is Dillon's girlfriend. Collide follows Gavin and Emily as they try to deal with their undeniable connection to one another and the fallout that it leaves in it's wake.
"I've never felt so heartbroken and so in love at the same time. If you would've told me the day we met that you were going to break my heart - and that days, months, or even years would pass, that I would still be hurting like this - it wouldn't have stopped me from falling in love with you."
We'll begin with Emily. Urgh, the girl needed a kick up the backside at times. I didn't dislike her. At times my heart broke for her. At times I wanted to shake her. And at times I was right behind her, cheering her on. Dillon helped her through an incredibly painful time, when she lost her mother and she feels strongly indebted to him for this. I can completely see why this drives some of her poor choices and reactions to his behaviour. But, my God, was it frustrating!
Her mind tried to fight a bloody battle against what her body already knew. She wanted him, and she wanted him bad.
Dillon is a dickhead. There's no two ways about it. He's controlling, possessive, aggressive, arrogant, manipulative, disrespectful, unfaithful, dishonest... shall I continue?! I absolutely hated him from quite early on in the book. As soon as he started becoming a little overbearing, I could totally see where the author was taking the story and my dislike for Dillon began to fester.
And then there's Gavin. *sigh* Gavin Gavin Gavin Gavin Gavin. 'Mr. Tall, Dark and Fuckable Handsome' ! At the beginning of the book, he's just undeniably hot, smooth, panty-wetting, gorgeous, [insert complimentary adjective here]... But as the book progresses, he becomes so much more than that.
Now, I'm not usually one to buy into the whole 'love at first sight' spiel, but it totally didn't bother me in this book. I luuurrrved the way Gavin wanted Emily. I loved that every time they were in the same room, their eyes locked and they were drawn to one another. I loved that he felt that she was meant to be with him, despite the fact that she was with Dillon. And, hell, I was even bouncing in my seat when they were sneaking around behind everyone's backs!! The stolen touches, the secret glances, the whispered innuendos. Mmmmm mmmm!
"Am I making it hard for you?" he asked mockingly.
"Yes, Gavin you are," she quietly spat, her fingertips white-knuckled around her glass.
With his need for her trapped inside - blistering hot, sweltering, ready to explode - he leaned in closer, dropping his voice. "Good, because whenever you're near me, I fucking lose every bit of self-control I have left."
Speaking of which... Oh my goodness, this book is Haaaawt! with a capital H and an 'aw'!
"There's not a man on Earth who doesn't wish he was me right now. Your mind and your body will never forget the things I'm going to do to you tonight. Every...single...inch of your body is going to feel me."
"Oh my God."
"Yes."
I guess it's the idea of the forbidden fruit. The taboo. And I know it makes me a very bad, morally corrupt person, but squeeeee, I freakin' loved it! It's like Thoughtless, but if Denny were a complete tool!
"I want you to give in to what I see behind your eyes every time I'm near you. I want you to give in to the way you trembled in my arms when I touched you... the way your breathing becomes faster when I look at you. I loved the way your lips felt against mine, and I'm pretty sure you did, too. I also enjoy the way I can almost feel you becoming wet for me right now. Are you going to pretend that you don't feel anything for me, Emily?"
And lastly, there's the ending. Jesus H. Christ! I've had this on my Kindle for months and I kept looking at it, wondering if I should just read it. And then I got asked to be a part of the blog tour to read and review the second book, Pulse. So, I decided to put Collide on hold and wait until near the date of my blog stop, so that I could read both at once. Thank fuck I did! Otherwise, right now, I'd be pulling my hair out. It's a brutal, heart-pounding, palm-sweating cliffhanger.
"Sometimes, bad choices bring us to the right people."
The last 20% of this book is fast paced and absolutely deliciously juicy! I couldn't tear my eyes away (hence the lack of shower debacle). It's steamy, heart breaking, intense, painful and explosive.
So, I'm going to force myself to go and do normal day-to-day, mandatory things right now, before allowing myself to dive into Pulse ready for my blog spot on Monday.

Gavin: Like seriously... where is the machine that turns our book boyfriends into flesh because I am completely head over heels in love with this delectable dude! Gavin Blake is just ...Wow! They way he loves is stunning. The things that he makes Emily feel *sigh*....Fate definitely had a good time with these two, and it will have you holding your breath, jaw dropping to the floor, and smiling like a fool!
Collide is the total package, steamy, fun, and a little heart-wrenching. Gail does a wonderful job at making you feel like you are part of everything that's going on throughout the whole book. By the end, if you don't already feel like you know the characters personally, you may need to re-read it 'cause you definitely missed something. Her characters are as real as they come.
So I said all of that, just to say this.... Mark your friggin' Calendars!! for January 21,2013!!!This WILL be one of your favorite reads, I'm sure of it!

Oh boy, I don't even know where to start. I had high hopes for this book but it definitely fell short for me.

He meets Emily on a chance encounter as she is delivering his food from the restaurant where she works. They have an immediate attraction to each other. Gavin is in hot pursuit.......until he meets his friend Dillon and his girlfriend at a club and all hopes of having Emily comes crashing down around him.
"Sometimes bad choices bring us to the right people, Emily."
Gavin knows that Dillon isn't treating Emily the way she deserves to be treated. She might be dating his friend, but that doesn't keep him from wanting her. For now he has decided to just be her friend. They have a very strong sexual chemistry but they also develop a very good friendship.
When things comes crashing down in Emily's world, Gavin is there to pick her up.
"When you want something this badly, you don't just give up. You fight and fight until you absolutely can't fight anymore." ~Gavin
The reason I didn't like this book was basically all due to Emily. She was very fickle, indecisive, and an all around pain in my ass.

I was Stunned, shredded and left speechless at the end of the book but I'm absolutely in love with Collide!!
This is the story of Emily who moves from Colorado to NYC with the encouragement of her boyfriend Dillon. Emily has graduated college and moves in with her best friend and college roommate Olivia. Emily met Dillon when Olivia's brother Trevor came and visited the girls one weekend while they were in college and the rest is history or is it?????
I must say I had NO clue what I was getting myself into when I started this one. I knew the synopsis and that was it. I refused to chat with anyone about the book until after I read it and well I started reading and it wasn't long before I was sitting in my chair doing this......
Emily gets to NYC and she needs a job and she promptly gets one as a waitress! She's leaving after her first shift and her boss Antonio asks that she drops off an order. Easy not a big deal and who knew that would be the first time Emily "collides" with the infamous Gavin Blake. I predict that you will fall in LOVE I mean head over heels in love with Gavin :) Who wouldn't millionaire, SINGLE, and schmexy as all get out. Yep, if I walked in and made instant eye contact with his ice blue eyes I would totally................
This story is told in alternating POV which I LOVED! We had Emily POV and Gavin's. Gavin see's Emily and guess what - yep, this unattached player is hit right in the heart with cupid's arrow. But don't you dare for one minute think this is the "typical" player nope you will find Gavin is freaking ahhhhhh-ma-zing! Wait I almost forgot Dillon........
But are they bad? or are they really really good ;) Well, this is one of those books that I seriously cannot give you too much of the plot line but I CAN and will give you some glimpses of the book through my eyes.............
You have Olivia who is bad arse and doesn't fancy Dillon at all her typical reaction when he walks in the room is....................
Trevor he's a pretty cool dude and I really liked him but his like Switzerland when things start going down..........
I can't forget this................................
I really wish I read this..............
Wait, was there?
In any event the relationships were complex and when I say relationships I don't mean just Dillon & Emily. I mean everyone of the characters has some connection to something which really would screw with me too if I was Emily.
This book did pull every emotion from me. I went from ..........
Right on to.................................
at times I was................................................
And then I got towards the end you know when there is enough left where you are crying one minute and you think ahhhhh I'm going to be okay. I was left going.........................
Oh did I mention, there's another book? Oh yes my friends there is another one in the series!
In all seriousness this book is very well written. The amazing love scenes are described in such a way I've never read before that I wasn't reading the same 'ole thing. This is a MUST READ for 2013 and then you can sit back with me and wait for book two to see where this continues.
This book was like NOTHING I've read recently heck I can't recall reading a book with this plot line. It's one of those true gems that you read and when finish you literally are giddy and talking a mile a minute, yes I was to my spouse, but at the same time you are craving, dying and needing more, much, much more!
I'm seriously doing this over Gail McHugh.....................
Gail you ROCK! This is outstanding and I cannot wait to see everyone's reaction to this once it is released. I don't think there are enough adjectives for me to describe how I feel after reading this book!

I so wanted to love this book, I really did.I did start out enjoying it. The opening couple of chapters hooked me in and I was feeling a connection to Emily as we join her in her move to New York where she is making a fresh start following the death of her mother.
These initial scenes drew me in and I was feeling for Emily at this point and thought, here it is, I'm going to love this girl and love this story. She's independent, compassionate, sweet and came across quite strong at this juncture of the story.
At this point we are also introduced to her boyfriend Dillon who comes across as loving, thoughtful and caring. He has been her rock during her mother's illness and steered her through the days following her mother's death. Dillon has been there for her. Attentively looking after her and visiting while she is at her mother's bedside wherever possible. He's by her side, but it's what you would expect from a loving boyfriend.
Emily is making a delivery the day she first encounters Gavin. There is a charge between these two. A connection they both feel that neither can deny. Gavin acknowledges it, Emily tries to dismiss it. After all, she is deeply in love with Dillon.
I really did enjoy hearing both Gavin and Emily's voices in this story and it enabled me to experience his instant attraction and the overall intense feelings he had for Emily that he couldn't explain. He knew she felt them too but getting her to admit her feelings for him was going to take some work, but Gavin was prepared to do whatever was necessary to make Emily admit her feelings for him, feelings he knows they both share.
Once Dillon is back on familiar territory he starts showing glimpses of the "real" Dillon. The real Dillon is very different to the Dillon we've been introduced to earlier on.
In fact the real Dillon is inconsiderate and pretty awful and herein lies my problem with how I started to disconnect form the story and the characters.
As Dillon's real personality flaws started to emerge so does his disrespect and unreasonable treatment of Emily start coming to the forefront.
On the one hand we have Gavin. Gavin is the perfect guy. Handsome, kind, caring, wears his heart on his sleeve, a stoic millionaire playboy who doesn't realise something's missing in his life until he meets Emily. After having his heart broken some years earlier, he's always been a bit gun shy of relationships and falling in love but after seeing Emily, he has feelings he thought he would never experience again.
The decision on who to choose was simple really. Well, it was for me. Who do you choose?
The cruel, manipulative awful Dillon or the wonderful, kind, caring, passionate, protective Gavin, who never ceases in his pursuit of her knowing that she felt the same way about him. "Tell me how much you fucking want me"
The fact that Emily had such a hard time deciding and flip flopping drove me crazy. I just didn't get it. Yes, I understood that she felt she owed Dillon something for how he supported her through her Mum's illness and passing and she was mindful that Gavin and Dillon were friends, if you could call them that.
But for me, I really couldn't grasp the extent she went to in her relationship with Dillon and how she disregarded all the signs that were right in front of her face.
Emily would never listen to anyone but most of all she refused to hear Gavin out.
This frustrated me and I felt so sorry for Gavin who was so patient and he never shied from telling Emily how he felt
"You belong with me, not him." Every part of you was made for me. Your lips were made to kiss mine, your eyes were made to wake up to me looking at you in my bed every morning, and your fucking tongue was made to roll my name off it. I am more certain of us than I'm certain that I require oxygen to breathe."
Yes, he certainly let her know his feelings whereas Dillon seemed to provide her with nothing but heartache and confusion.
Emily frustrated me to the point where I wanted to jump into my kindle and slap some sense into her and tell Gavin to run and never return and find happiness elsewhere, and the miscommunication over the ex girlfriend was irritating and and unbelievable.
The over abundance of words stalled the story for me at times and I found some of the analogies a bit off putting too "he licked thorugh the sweet juices as if he were savoring a popsicle on a hot summer day".
I did however find myself wanting to know what happened and the ending has set up book two perfectly.
